When a customer calls one of our Modern Storage® locations asking about security deposits and admin fees, we know they have been spooked. It’s not uncommon for a storage facility near you to charge all kinds of frightening fees (even when it’s not Halloween season) and that’s just devious.

At Modern Storage®, you can rest assured that every day will be a treat. We have honest, competitive pricing with no added taxes, admin fees, deposits, or other hidden fees. We even offer a complimentary moving truck for new storage customers!

So, how do you know whether you are getting tricked or treated? Let us take a closer look at some of the hidden fees you need to beware of at some storage facilities.

#1: Admin Fees

Moving is expensive enough. Why would you charge someone a fee just to save a storage unit reservation in a computer? It should take no more than 10 minutes if you take care of the customer correctly, especially if you are offering quick and contactless online storage rentals.

That’s why we do not believe in admin fees at our brand new location in Bentonville, or any other Modern Storage® location in Central Arkansas.

In fact, we offer so many more amenities compared to the competition and still refuse to charge admin fees. That’s what makes us Modern! You can even use our business centers, conference rooms, and Starbucks coffee bars for free.

#2: Security Deposits

Why do storage facility owners find the need to charge deposits to protect their property? If a storage facility is charging you a security deposit, chances are there have been spooky incidents there in the past and the security features are substandard.

At Modern Storage®, we don’t need to charge you a security deposit because we have very clear rules and policies, plus advanced security features like 24-hour surveillance cameras and controlled-access gates.

#3: Hidden Fees

The word “free” can be very tempting, especially when you are on a tight budget during a big move. Who wouldn’t see “Free Month” or “$1 Move-In” and jump at the offer?

But when a deal looks too good to be true, that’s because it usually is. These rent-free deals are just tricks!Once you get ready to sign your paperwork, you will suddenly see that the storage facility charges lock fees, insurance fees, taxes, and more just to get in the door.

Whatever happened to your “free” month of storage? To be honest, it’s just a false advertisement with hidden fees.
