Explaining Climate Control

One thing people always want to know is what the difference is between climate and non-climate, and what the benefits are for each. Climate-controlled units are normally kept between 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. The main goal with climate control is to make sure the temperature in your storage unit remains constant and unchanging several times a day.

Common Storage Customer Questions

There are a couple of questions we ask customers to help them determine what kind of unit they need.One of the first questions we ask is how long they will be storing their items.Typically, if someone is just storing for a short time, we recommend using non-climate. This is because non-climate tends to be cheaper and items will not normally get damaged due to temperature changes if they are in storage for a short period. If someone says they will be staying for several months or years, we would recommend a climate controlled unit.The next big question we ask is what our customer will be storing.If furniture is going to sit in a unit through multiple season changes, there could be extensive damages due to temperature changes. The major temperature changes and changes in humidity can be detrimental to furniture. The next question we ask people is what they are storing. If someone is only storing plastic tubs of clothes we would recommend non-climate. If someone is storing expensive furniture, wood furniture, appliances or art work, we would recommend a climate controlled unit. This helps to ensure that expensive items will not be damaged or harmed during major temperature or weather changes.Don't get stressed out deciding what kind of storage unit you need.
