Are you renting a storage unit for the very first time? Or, do you have a question you forgot to ask while moving in? No worries! The expert staff here at Modern Storage is here to help answer your most frequently asked questions.

When & How Can I Move In?

If you need a storage unit, Modern Storage® offers several options for moving in. Whatever works for you, we are happy to accommodate.

Walk In & Move In

Your first option is to stop by any of our three locations during business hours and speak to one of our storage experts. They can help you select a storage unit, fill out your paperwork, and move in that day or another day of your choosing.

Did you know we prorate your rent to your move-in day? Unless you move in on the first day of any given month, you do not pay a full month’s rent at move-in.

Call Ahead & Move In

Are you unable to stop by during business hours? No problem! Your second option is to call one our three locations for assistance.

Go Online & Move In

Your third option is to move in online right here on our website. With our 24-hour rental center, you can select any storage unit that’s available and move in any time!

What Size Storage Unit Do I Need?

Everyone has different storage needs, which is why we offer all kinds of self-storage options. Indoor, outdoor, small, large, climate-controlled, non-climate-controlled…just check out our advice on picking out the perfect unit.

Do I Need a Lock for My Storage Unit?

Safety first! We always recommend storage unit renters get a lock for their storage unit.

You can either provide your own lock or purchase a lock from us for only $10.95! We also sell other moving supplies like boxes, bubble wrap, and mattress covers.

Do I Need to Sign a Long-Term Lease?

Absolutely not! We always lease our storage units on a month-to-month agreement. We also do not charge any deposits, admin fees, or move-in fees!

What Do I Need to Rent a Storage Unit?

To rent a storage unit and move in, all we require is a copy of your driver’s license (or another form of government-issued photo ID) and your prorated rent payment.

What Forms of Payment Does Modern Storage® Accept?

We accept checks, money orders, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

How Do I Make a Payment?

You can make payments in person, over the phone, by mail, or on our website. You can also sign up to have payments automatically drafted from your bank account monthly.

Payments must be made before the fifth day of every month. We do charge late fees if you fail to make a payment.

When Can I Access My Storage Unit?

At every Modern Storage® facility, normal access hours are from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Every customer has a unique access code they must use to enter and exit the facility at our security gates.

If you would like to access your storage unit at any time, we also offer 24-hour access for only $10 a month.

What Is the Move-Out Procedure Like?

If you are ready to move out of a storage unit at any Modern Storage® facility, we require a 10-day notice. Before you leave, you must empty the storage unit, sweep it clean, and remove the lock.
