February 11th, 2022

Everyone always gets so excited about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but you shouldn’t forget about Giving Tuesday! Today is a great day to give back to your community by donating your time, money, or belongings before the holidays hit.

Perhaps you have some items you no longer need taking up valuable space in your storage unit. Or maybe you saved so much money on your holiday shopping that you have a little bit of disposable income! Whatever the case, there are so many worthy causes that we can recommend you donate to this holiday season.

WORTHY CAUSES IN ARKANSAS

There are some excellent organizations here in Arkansas doing important work to support local communities in need. Here, we have detailed what each organization needs most, how you can support them, and where you need to go to make your donations.

Central Arkansas Library System

Do you have boxes of great books just sitting unread in your storage unit? Donate them!

The Central Arkansas Library System accepts book donations at the Main Library in Downtown Little Rock, or you could make a monetary donation to support your local library.

Compassion Center

The Little Rock Compassion Center is another worthy cause that feeds and shelters the hungry and homeless here in our community.Show your own compassion this Giving Tuesday by getting involved and donating what you can.

You can supply food, clothing, and even vehicles, or purchase something off their Amazon wish lists!

Goodwill

A donation to Goodwill would go towards all kinds of great programs that change lives through education, training, and employment.

Plus, at Goodwill donation centers in Little Rock and Bentonville, all you have to do up is pull up, pop your trunk, and let their volunteers unload your donations.

They accept everything from electronics to furniture, so gather up some items you don’t need and give them to someone that does!

Havenwood

Havenwood in Bentonville offers a safe, stable, and supportive place to live for single mothers experiencing homelessness or escaping violent homes. How incredible is that?

If you want to donate something off their wish list or fund families in need, we think that would be an excellent use of your time on Giving Tuesday.

Our House

By providing critical housing, educational programs, mental health resources, and career development courses, Our House helps local families and individuals find a pathway out of homelessness and into successful livelihoods.

If you want to support this awesome organization, you can symbolically adopt a family for the holidays and purchase items on their wish list. Or you can donate meals or deliver personal hygiene items any time of year.

Restoration Village

Just across the freeway from our location in Bentonville, Restoration Village in Rogers is not just a shelter for women and children. This worthy cause also offers therapy programs, transportation services, and mentorship programs to support those in need.

If you want to get involved in this organization, monetary donations can be made on their website, or you can fund something on their Amazon wish list.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is an international organization that organizes food pantries, runs after school programs, operates homeless shelters, conducts disaster relief missions, and so much more.

You can donate to your local Salvation Army outpost in Central Arkansas or Northwest Arkansas, adopt a Christmas angel, and even schedule a pick-up of your clothing, furniture, and other donations.
